Legislator
Joins Support
of Prop13 Arizona
Tax Initiative
Phoenix, AZ.
– Senator Jack Harper has introduced SCR1003 which, if passed,
would put a Referendum on the ballot in November 2008 based on
the wording of the Prop 13 Arizona Initiative.
The Prop 13 Arizona
Committee commends Senator Harper for choosing to support their
Initiative
language and for using the constitutional scrutiny of the
legislative system to validate the exact wording of their
Initiative. His support has quieted the accusations of a few
uninformed but vocal opponents who had wrongly claimed that the
legal language of Prop 13 Arizona would not pass muster in a
legal review.
The Prop 13 Arizona
Committee will not accept a diluted version of their Initiative,
if that is what the Legislature eventually passes. So, the
Committee is forging ahead to get 230,047 valid signatures, to
qualify the Initiative for the November 2008 ballot.
The Committee has found a
way to overcome the shortage of public places allowing citizens
to collect signatures. Volunteers can print their own petitions
from the website,
www.Prop13Arizona.com
or easily obtain petitions anywhere in Arizona simply by calling
Danny at Kinko’s, 602-404-3415. He will forward your order, at
forty cents per petition packet, to the Kinko’s store nearest to
you for pickup.
And, their "Call Five
Friends" program encourages supporters to contact five people
and have each one get a petition filled with up to 15 "easy"
signatures from family, friends and co-workers they are in
routine contact with.
Volunteers are being
recruited to collect signatures at polling places throughout the
state on February 5th for the Presidential primary election.
Voters can turn out at the polls to vote and to sign the Prop 13
Arizona petition at the same time.
Prop13Arizona is proving to
be non-partisan, with growing support for property tax reform
among voters from all political parties. |
