Yavapai County Board of Supervisors Approve
Wickenburg Ranch Estates
Prescott, Arizona.- The Yavapai County Board of Supervisors by a vote of two against one approved the planned change in zoning for the Wickenburg Ranch Estates development, despite the overwhelming opposition of Yavapai residents close to the project. The developer support was from primarily outside of Yavapai County. The change in zoning will result in twelve homes per two acres from the former one house per two acres. This is similar to the high density housing in the metro Phoenix and the Los Angeles area.
Supervisor
Thomas Thurman and Carol Springer voted pro-developer regardless of the
opposition
Board Supervisor Chip Davis did his home work and voted against the change in zoning. His questions were pertinent and were regarding the long term costs to Yavapai County. He also noted that Yavapai County has more golf courses per person than Maricopa county and, pointed out that annexation into Wickenburg would be an something the area residents would not want.
The opposition was debating, whether to seek a referendum to take the change in zoning to the voters of Yavapai county.
