Republican District Leadership Calls for Resignation of Wickenburg Mayor |

The Legislative District 4 (LD4) Republican Executive Board has
called for the resignation of Wickenburg Mayor Ron Badowski (R) for
endorsing incumbent Democrat Gov. Janet Napolitano in the Nov. 7
general election. Badowski is also in the midst of a recall
election by Wickenburg residents.
LD4 Chairman Lyle Tuttle said the LD4 leadership is following a directive set forth by State Republican Chairman who told Republicans in attendance at the Aug. 12 Arizona Republican State Executive meeting that they must insist on the resignation of any Republican official who endorsed non-Republican candidates for office. “As a direct result of this breech and following the precedent set by LD4 Republican Precinct Committeemen (PC) by voting unanimously to recall Glendale Mayor Elaine Scruggs at their October 16 meeting for endorsing Napolitano, the LD4 Republican Executive Committee voted unanimously on Oct. 24 in favor of calling for Badowski’s resignation,” Tuttle said. LD4 Republican Executive Board also unanimously voted Oct. 24 to call for the resignation of Surprise Mayor Joan Shafer (R) for endorsing Napolitano. Wickenburg is part of LD4 which consists of almost 69,000 registered Republican voters and is authorized 511 precinct committee.
