THANK YOU MIKE NESS
FOR YOUR SERVICE !
Wickenburg, Arizona,
Sergeant Michael A Ness of Wickenburg, proudly served with the Arizona Air
National Guard in Iraq. He returned from Iraq at the end of the last year.
As a member of the guard he is a crew chief on the UH-60A Blackhawk
helicopter.
Mike's unit was deployed on Sept 4th, 2004. They were
going to spent time at Ft. Sill, Ok for training. There were there till Dec.
31st. 2004, and then headed for Kuwait. They spent the next 2 weeks there,
before leaving for Camp Ananconda in Balad Iraq. While they waited for their
Helicopters to arrive, they got to tour Baghdad, and take a lot of pictures.
All their missions were successful ,and not one man was injured or lost.
They also were a taxi service when congressmen came and toured the area.
The gruesome task of transporting the fallen soldiers is a
memory that will live with him.
On Nov 5th the return home was once again with a stop in
Kuwait and Germany (where they finally had a taste of good food and beer)
then back to Ft Sill for debriefing. They stayed there till the end of
November. Upon their arrival at the Guard armory at Pappago Park they were
met by family and friends wearing tee shirts that said "Welcome Home" a
picture of the unit was on the shirt also.
Upon Mike's arrival in Wickenburg was a sign that hung on
the overpass, saying

Welcome home Sgt Mike Ness.
On Sept 9, 2005 Mike purchased a 3x5 US
Flag for the Ness family of Wickenburg. It was flown over Iraq on a
combat mission. They now have the flag and Certification of
Authenticity (combat Flight Mission) that serves to officially certify
that the flag was flown on a combat mission. This certificate is signed
by Michael's 1st Sgt Paul A Sweeney, 1Lt Timothy T Woods and the air
crew: CW2 Casey B Russell, CW3 Robert S Erlick, SSG Lyle O Bringhurst
and Sgt. Michael A Ness
